Information design for Bayerischer Rundfunk's Zündfunk
Development of Visual Knowledge Formats for Conveying Complex Content in a Cultural Context
For the Zündfunk of Bayerischer Rundfunk, we developed an information design that translates complex political, social, and cultural content into a concise visual form. The starting point was the conception of an information carrier for the 30th anniversary, which makes the content depth and the music journalistic stance of the format visible. Based on this foundation, the existing „City of Pop“ information graphic was continuously further developed and refined both in content and design for the anniversaries in 2009 and 2014. The result is a visual system that conveys editorial content in a structured manner and consistently strengthens the identity of the format over several years.
Designliga developed and produced a complex infographic in the form of an imaginary city: Music styles became neighborhoods; streets, squares, and buildings represent artists, labels, and institutions; the mainstream is at the center of the map; major roads and ferry lines connect the different styles.
