With the Audi Charging Hub, a modular premium format for urban fast-charging infrastructure was created, intelligently combining technology, brand communication, and quality of stay – and for the first time, thinking of charging infrastructure as a holistic brand space.

Where physical contact in a traditional car dealership occurs only a few times a year, the Charging Hub becomes a place of recurring encounters.

Technology as a Foundation: Rethinking High Power Charging 

High Power Charging with up to 320 kW in urban areas places high demands on existing power grids.

The solution is a modular energy management system with buffer storage from second-life batteries.
Similar to a “rain barrel,” energy is continuously stored and released with high power when needed.

Thus, the Charging Hub decouples the charging power from the power grid and enables powerful charging infrastructure even at locations that were technically not feasible before.

This technological innovation forms the basis for architecture, design, and brand space and forms the basis for a scalable, urban charging infrastructure in the context of electromobility.

Während zu Lebzeiten des Kaisers Kraftstoff stets flüssig war, suchen wir heute, wo die Ressourcen knapp und der ökologische Fußabdruck immer größer wird, nach einer geeigneten Alternative, um mobil zu bleiben. Die logische Lösung: Strom. 

Der Audi charging hub ist die Tankstelle der Zukunft: Die überdachte Schnellladestation mit reservierbaren High-Power-Charging-Ladeplätzen mit Pilotstandort in Nürnberg richtet sich unter anderem an E-Auto-Besitzer, die zuhause keine Lademöglichkeit haben.

Der Aufbau des Audi charging hub beruht auf einem modularen System,  die PowerCubes bilden dessen kleinste Baueinheit. Sie ermöglichen eine standortspezifische Bauweise, variabel in Größe und Ausstattung,  je nach Bedürfnissen und Bedingungen.

Die flexiblen Containerwürfel lassen sich schnell und einfach auf- und wieder abbauen und verhindern eine aufwändige Infrastruktur mit Hochspannungszuleitung und ein zeitintensive Planungsverfahren. Über eine Batteriespeicherlösung kommt die Schnellladeinfrastruktur dorthin, wo das Stromnetz nicht ausreicht.

Tanken galt lange Zeit als eine unangenehme Pflicht. Man stand neben der Zapfsäule, wartend; die Minuten verstrichen, vergeudet. Das ist jetzt anders. Während der Ladezeit bietet die Lounge im Obergeschoss die Möglichkeit, eine Pause einzulegen. In einer hellen und funktional ausgestatteten Umgebung können Kund*innen die geschenkte Zeit für sich nutzen. Entweder praktisch, indem sie E-Mails lesen oder telefonieren. Oder ruhig und müßig, indem sie bei einer Tasse Kaffee den Blick aus der großen Fensterfront schweifen lassen.

Doch auch die schönsten Momente gehen vorbei. Das interaktive Dashboard informiert über Ladezustand und verbleibende Ladedauer und erinnert die Besucher*innen erbarmungslos daran, dass das Leben kein endloses Ladeerlebnis ist.
